This year's Car Control Clinic was held at the Pomona Fairplex. The historic Pomona Road Race
course was home to many great names like Carroll Shelby and Bob Bondurant. The track layout
has been preserved and kept up all these years. This made it a no-brainer for an auto-x layout.
It took a little bit of coordination, but we were able to negotiate a deal with the Fairplex that
allowed us to leave some rubber on their property. : ) As in the past, this event was designed
to push the cars to its traction limits....at very safe speeds. Everyone had a great time and got to
experience some things that you wouldn't want to experience on our public roads. Our goal was
to educate through seat time and the change in venue and layout really worked out well.
Everyone arrived on time and lined up in their respective lanes.
It is always a joy to see all the Vipers assembled in one place.
Welcome to the Club Greg and Skyler ! I hope you enjoyed your very first event.
Welcome new member Ryan (right) and his friend Andy who helped out at Station 2 which was much appreciated.
Vipers lined up just outside the Auto Club Dragstrip
The Vipers were gassed up and ready to go
Our home base....shade was abundant with this huge awning that we finessed across the property.
After everyone had their breakfast burritos, coffee and juice, we had a quick driver's meeting
Not really sure why they were all clapping....but it distracted my train of thought and I failed to
get a Group Photo.....So this is it. CCC 2012 class photo.

The guys were anxious to fire up and get to the fun.
Station 1 Car Control with Bob Blizzard
We designed this course to specifically cause the Vipers to severely understeer or oversteer which
would result in some pretty good spin outs. The point was to show how quickly and violent an upset
Viper would react if you didn't exercise finesse with the throttle and steering wheel.
Bob rode shotgun with each member and gave valuable driving instructions while out on the course
The spectators had fun watching the cars screeching and sliding around.
Albert was all smiles

Station 2 Car Manipulation with Mark Sundberg
Knowing what happens when the Viper is unbalanced and how it reacts is one thing, learning to
put this to your advantage and manipulate the car's rotation to help you through a series of
difficult corners takes practice. By sending the Vipers through a specific course, the drivers were
able to repetitively work on these specific skills.
Instructor Mark gave driving instructions to the group and offered valuable instruction to many
of their questions
Station 3 Timed Auto-x
Utilizing the North section of the historic track, the Auto-x had a great variety of turns and
speed to make for an exhilarating run. Using the skills from the first 2 stations, shaved seconds from
the overall times.
Thanks again Sarah and Dax for coming out and spending the entire day out at our Auto-x.
I could not imagine running an event like this without you two.

Bob / Deb Blizzard and Mark Sundberg for coming out and working one on one with our Members.
My daughter Kaci and Art for greeting everyone at the front gate.
My incredible wife Lori and Halie for taking care of home base.
Rolf, Ben, Mikey and Gary for spending Saturday out in the sun setting everything up.
Dan and Cathy for doing so much work helping me coordinate all the different pieces, setting up on Sat
