Automobiles can have an incredible impact on a person's life.  Nothing could be more true

than the story of Vic Edelbrock Sr. who purchased a '32 Ford Roadster back in 1938.

Vic Sr. fell in love with the hot rods and this passion inspired him to design and build his first

intake manifold.  With each passing year, the Edelbrock name grew to be an American icon

in the automotive world and 75 years later is stronger than ever.

With the efforts of Club member, Bruce Conklin, our Club gained access to the inner workings

of this automotive giant.  We were taken on a tour of the entire facility and got to see the

operation in full operation.  This was a once in a lifetime opportunity and we Thank everyone

at Edelbrock who took the time to take us through the plant today.

We had members drive from San Diego, Riverside, and Santa Clarita, despite the rain, hail and work.

And yes, Vipers do work in the rain.

The very first manifold ever made and started the Edelbrock history

When they first started out, they used wood plugs to cast the molds for the aluminum manifolds

Now they design the models on the computer and a special machine creates the model in

plastic.

They test every design for performance have a state of the art engine dyno.

After checking out these rare and awesome drivers, we headed over to the manufacturing plant.

We respected their request of No Pictures.

All I can say is that once we entered the building, the decibel level of the machinery in operation

energized the air and we could literally see rough castings go in and come out on the other end

as finished product.   Really amazing to witness firsthand.

After touring the manufacturing plant, we went thru their marketing, and sales offices.

Edelbrock is truly self contained and even has their own printing facilities on site.

These are some of the SEMA displays getting ready for another show

From there, we took a short drive over to Vic's Garage.

Proudly displayed in the front reception lobby is Vic Sr's original tool box and work bench

The car that started it all.   Vic Sr. purchased this car in 1938.   In the late 40's Vic Sr. sold the car.

Many many years later Vic Jr. tracked down the car and bought it !!   An amazing piece of history.

The So Cal Club with Vic Jr.

Vic wanted to be able to see us, so he took a perch and told us some truly great stories of

the Edelbrock history.  It was very fascinating and really put things in perspective as to how

influential they truly are in the industry.

Thanks again to Vic Jr.,  the entire Edelbrock team, and Bruce Conklin for

all their efforts !!!   It was a great day.
