I was lucky enough to meet Paul and Mark Schley back in 2015 when they brought

their Viper out for Viper Tracks 1.  These 2 guys are full of energy, have a passion for

speed and absolutely the nicest guys you could ever know.   Over the years, they

have asked me to come over to visit their place and I finally took them up and asked

if I could bring a few friends.  They were so excited when I told them that the Vipers would

be coming over.  Boy, were we in for a treat !!!!!!  The Schley Brothers are known around the world

for their Lightning Bug which was the first VW Bug to run a 10 second quarter mile in the 60's.

While their "garage" is filled with awesome cars, memorabilia, posters, pictures and tons of

displays, the greatest treat was listening to all the great history and stories these two brothers

were a part of.

We all met up at Krispy Kreme before heading over to the Schley's place

Max was excited to be out with the guys !

Max and Dad

Mayo and Dan

Tim and Mike

Old friends reunited

Mark and Paul gave us a story after story from their past and the amazing journey they have been on and continue to do.

They still take their Ligtning bug out for exhibitions, still road race their Viper and Corvette and are at the track every chance they

get.....upwards of 12 or more times a year !!

With every picture, poster, award or item on display, there is an top notch story or reason behind it.

A replica of the Lightning Bug.  The original sadly crashed when a weld on the front axel failed

in a race at the Orange County International Race Way in 1969.  It is amazing that Mark survived

that crash as the car was completely destroyed.

One of the displays featured their grandfather, Conrad Werra, who came up with the process to cast aluminum in the late 1800's

We had such a great day with the Schley brothers and it truly was an honor to spend time with them as they

are true living legends and I'm so honored to be able to call them friends.
